Elon Musk led SpaceX could be preparing to enter the fast-growing AI hardware market with a compact artificial intelligence device that is reportedly slimmer than an iPhone.
The prototype, which was reportedly shown to investors ahead of SpaceX’s blockbuster IPO, signals the company’s ambitions to compete with Apple, OpenAI and other tech giants developing next-generation AI devices.

SpaceX reportedly developing AI hardware
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, SpaceX has developed a prototype AI device featuring an ultra-slim design that is thinner than an iPhone.
The report says the company demonstrated the prototype to selected investors and stakeholders before its recent stock market debut.
The device is said to run on a proprietary operating system and use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
SpaceX building a larger AI ecosystem
The reported hardware project comes as SpaceX rapidly expands its artificial intelligence business.
The company recently integrated xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company behind the Grok chatbot, into its broader operations.
It has also added AI coding platform Cursor to its growing technology portfolio, strengthening its software and AI capabilities.
Together with Starlink and SpaceX’s satellite infrastructure, the company is gradually building an ecosystem spanning artificial intelligence, connectivity and consumer technology.

If launched, the AI device would compete with products currently being developed by several major technology companies.
