F1 Standings 2026: Latest points table after Lewis Hamilton drama at British Grand Prix

The F1 title race is very much on after a dramatic British Grand Prix at Silverstone saw a major change in the post-race standings.

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli looked to be perfectly poised for victory until a late mechanical issue for his Mercedes saw him drop all the way down out of the poinTS.

There was misery for Lewis Hamilton too, as Ferrari’s decision to pit him under a very very late safety car saw him lose second place to Mercedes star George Russell, and leave him still behind his fellow Brit in the standings.

Race winner Charles Leclerc is up to fourth after his first victory of 2026 for Ferrari but it was another disastrous afternoon for four-time world champion Max Verstappen as he crashed out late in the race.

Hamilton though did avoid further disaster after being investigated by the FIA stewards for a yellow flag infringement late in the race.

The seven-time world champion feared a penalty which would have knocked him out of the podium positions, but after a lengthy hearing the stewards decided that a reprimand was sufficient punishment.
