Errol Musk, father of billionaire Elon Musk, has confirmed that his son’s family foundation paid for British activist Tommy Robinson to travel to Russia, a trip that saw Robinson calling on supporters back home to protest.
Errol Musk told The Guardian directly that he was the one who brought Robinson, whose legal name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, out to Russia.
He said the costs were covered by the Musk Foundation, the charitable organization Elon Musk runs together with his brother Kimbal.
Elon Musk himself has repeatedly voiced support for Robinson in the past.
Robinson surfaced in Moscow last month, and it was from there that he urged people in Britain to take to the streets following a knife attack in Belfast.
He posted a video showing himself alongside the elder Musk inside an upscale Moscow hotel.
According to Errol Musk, the pair didn’t just socialize, they also sat down with Russian business figures during the visit.
The timing is notable given the broader political backdrop.
Vladimir Putin’s government and its allies have increasingly been reaching out to right-wing figures across Europe, and this trip fits into that wider pattern, as per the report.
Robinson’s Return to Britain
When Robinson made his way back to London, British police intervened, stopping him and confiscating his phones.
This wasn’t Robinson’s first trip to Russia, he had gone there before, years earlier.
But this visit stood out for how openly he praised the country, including sharing video of Russian ultra-nationalists gathered at a rally honoring Henry Nowak, a British teenager who was murdered.
Errol Musk’s Own Russia Ties
The elder Musk didn’t stop at Moscow.
He also traveled to St Petersburg to attend an annual economic forum backed by the Kremlin.
Describing Robinson, he called him “a fine young man,” while also acknowledging he can be “very hotheaded” but is, in his words, still learning.
Errol Musk’s connection to Russia runs deeper than this one trip.
He has visited the country multiple times in the past and has even met Putin personally.
He openly describes himself as having pro-Russian views on the Ukraine conflict and has claimed that Russia holds what he calls a “genetic advantage” over Western nations.

Errol Musk said Robinson was genuinely engaged in these discussions, noting that he “really got into” the conversations.
