After Apple accused OpenAI of stealing its intellectual property, Elon Musk took a fresh dig at Sam Altman.
The two tech moguls traded insults on X on Sunday, showing that their years-long rivalry is far from over.
This fresh exchange started after Musk responded to an X users’ post (DogeDesigner) by accusing Altman of taking “scamming to a whole new level.”
Musk Calls Altman ‘Scam Altman’ Again
Musk’s comment revived an old insult.
Earlier this year, Musk had referred to the OpenAI CEO as “Scam Altman” following a New Yorker investigation that raised questions about Altman’s credibility on AI safety.

He mocked Musk’s plans for space-based data centers, arguing that the idea made little sense.
Altman wrote in his reply, “Homeboy you’re the one sellling public market investors on short-term space datacenters.”
This criticism was not new.
During an appearance on the TBPN podcast in May, Altman had questioned whether building a data centre in space was practical.
Musk Responds With Fresh Personal Attack
Musk hit back with another post, mixing sarcasm with fresh allegations against the OpenAI CEO.
He said, “We will start flying them next year.
Maybe you can come see them if your parole officer approves.
After stealing an open source AI charity, you then stole all of Apple’s phone technology! Wow.
What do you plan for an encore? That’s tough to beat.”
Apart from taking a personal dig at Altman, Musk accused him of taking control of what he described as an open-source AI charity and later stealing Apple’s phone technology.
Musk’s comments have come after Apple sued OpenAI, accusing the AI company of using Apple’s intellectual property to develop its own consumer hardware and obtaining trade secreTS. Moreover, the Tesla CEO’s remarks about a parole office also appeared to reference his own legal battle with OpenAI.
He had filed a $150 billion lawsuit, alleging that Altman shifted OpenAI away from its original nonprofit mission and had lost the case.
The latest exchange highlights how the competition between Musk and Altman now stretches far beyond AI.
From OpenAI’s future to space infrastructure and legal disputes, the two executives continue to clash in public.
