Lewis Hamilton believes the Hungarian Grand Prix offers the perfect opportunity to reignite his Formula One title challenge after enduring a frustrating run over the past two race weekends.
The seven time world champion has watched momentum slip away following a difficult Belgian Grand Prix, where mistakes across the weekend left him chasing the pack.
While teammate Charles Leclerc has surged into form with back to back podium finishes, winning at Silverstone before finishing second at Spa Francorchamps, Hamilton has been forced to play catch up.
Yet the Ferrari driver remains confident that Budapest can mark the beginning of a turnaround.
“I want to win,” Hamilton said ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“That’s the target every weekend, but particularly here because I believe this circuit can suit our car much better.”
The Hungaroring has long been one of Hamilton’s happiest hunting grounds.
The tight and technical circuit has rewarded precision rather than outright straight line speed, an area where Ferrari has looked increasingly competitive in recent races.
Leclerc’s recent resurgence has also provided Ferrari with renewed belief.
The Monegasque has steadily reduced the gap to the front after a difficult start to the campaign, giving the Scuderia genuine confidence that it can challenge Mercedes more consistently over the second half of the season.
After accepting responsibility for Ferrari’s disappointing weekend in Belgium, Hamilton insisted the focus has already shifted forward.
“I’ve just got to step it up,” he admitted.
“Spa was a difficult weekend and I take full responsibility for that.
The important thing is how you respond, and I believe we can bounce back here.”
A victory in Budapest would not only revive Hamilton’s title ambitions but also reinforce Ferrari’s growing momentum in both championship battles.
With Leclerc rediscovering his best form and Hamilton eager to respond after two difficult weekends, the Hungarian Grand Prix could prove to be the race that finally ignites Ferrari’s championship charge.
