Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang says ‘Can’t we all be friends’ after Musk unfollows him on X

Elon Musk and Sam Altman’s rivalry is known to the world.

Both the AI leaders have often engaged in trading jabs on social media.

Now Musk may also possibly have some quarrel with Alexandr Wang, Meta’s Chief AI Officer and the head of the company’s new Superintelligence Labs.

This move comes after Wang took to his official X account and shared a post which alleged that Musk has unfollowed him on X.

Wang wrote, “Um can’t we all be friends.”

Has Elon Musk Unfollowed Alexandr Wang?

The social media media development comes at a time when the rivalry between AI tech giants is intensifying.

Musk has recently launched its latest AI model Grok 4.5 with the agentic capabilities which he described as “Opus-Class”.

Notably, Musk’s and Wang’s companies are now working hard to build powerful AI models.

Meta recently launched its Muse Image AI tool that could generate images like Grok; however, it was rolled back due to the controversy surrounding using public data available on Instagram and Facebook.

The social media post of Wang gained quick traction, leaving many users wondering what has exactly happened between both the tech moguls.

Neither Wang, nor Musk explained why the Tesla CEO unfollowed the Meta AI chief.

Moreover, it is also not clear whether the move was part of any routine account management or any deliberate planned action.

Musk is often known for replying to such cryptic posts and getting involved in online dialogues.

However, he has not responded to Wang’s tweet yet.

This post shows how tech leaders are rushing to make better AI models, heating up the AI race.

To those who are unaware, Musk also revived his social media feud with Sam Altman on Sunday.

After Apple accused OpenAI of stealing its intellectual property, Musk took a fresh dig at Altman.

The CEOs exchanged insults on X on Sunday, showing that their years-long rivalry is far from over.

This fresh exchange started after Musk responded to an X users’ post (DogeDesigner) by accusing Altman of taking “scamming to a whole new level.”

Musk’s comment revived an old insult.

Earlier this year, Musk had referred to the OpenAI CEO as “Scam Altman” following a New Yorker investigation that raised questions about Altman’s credibility on AI safety.

However, Altman did not hold back.

He mocked Musk’s plans for space-based data centers, arguing that the idea made little sense.

Altman wrote in his reply, “Homeboy you’re the one selling public market investors on short-term space datacenters.”

What lies ahead is whether Musk unfollowing Wang on X develops into a public rivalry remains unclear.
